We take care of the renewal of your registered industrial design in Uganda. We monitor the duration of protection and keep you updated about the upcoming renewal period of protection.
Upon registration of a design in UK it shall be protected in Uganda by a registered industrial design for a period of five years from the date of filing the application or the claimed priority application date too.
The applicant may have renewed the term of protection for one or more periods of five years each, up to a total term of 25 years from the date of filing. The renewal of a registered design shall be done by a request, provided that the renewal fee will be paid. The request for renewal shall be submitted within the 6 months of the protection period and the renewal fee shall be paid within the same period. Renewal within 1 month after the renewal date avoid late payment fees.
The renewal still may be done during the six months following the expiry date of the registration, subject to simultaneous payment of an additional fee per month of delay. Renewal shall have effect from the expiry of the registration. If you missed the 6 month deadline for late renewal, you may have a further 6 months to apply to ‘restore’ your design. But you must give a good reason why you missed the deadline. The restoration application is not subject of this offer.
Our offer relates to single design application and includes the general maintenance fee but not the additional fee for late renewal payment in case of failing the general time limit for renewal.
Accepting the contract is subject to the circumstance that you will hire us early enough so that the request and the payment of the official fees can be arranged in time.
