2. Renewal of Design Protection
After registration, a design in Bosnia is initially protected for 5 years, starting from the filing date. The design owner can extend the protection up to four times by 5 years each time, allowing a total protection period of up to 25 years. This extension is carried out by submitting an application to the relevant office and timely payment of the renewal fee.
The application for renewal must be submitted within the last 6 months before the expiration of the protection period. If this deadline is missed, the application can still be submitted within six months after the protection period expires, but a surcharge will apply in this case.
3. Surcharge for Late Payment
If the renewal fee is paid after the protection period has expired, a surcharge will be applied. In the first month of delay, the surcharge is 50% of the regular renewal fee. The renewal will take effect at the end of the previous protection period, ensuring that your design rights continue without interruption.
4. Collective Renewal for Multiple Designs
If your design is registered together with other designs under a single application and all designs belong to the same Locarno class, it is possible to apply for a collective renewal. This option allows multiple designs to be renewed at once, reducing administrative effort and enabling more efficient handling.
5. Costs and Fees
Our prices are charged per registered design and per protection period. They include the official fees and the applicable statutory VAT. If a late payment is made, a surcharge will be added to the regular renewal fees.
