- Application Submission: The extension application must be submitted within the last year of the protection period to the Romanian Office for Intellectual Property (OSIM). The extension becomes effective with the expiration of the previous protection period.
- Deadline Exceedance: If the application is not submitted on time, it is possible to submit a late application within 6 months after the protection period expires. In this case, a late fee will apply.
- Reinstatement in Case of Force Majeure: If the applicant missed a deadline due to force majeure, they may apply for reinstatement in the missed deadline. The application must be submitted within 60 days after the reason for the delay has been removed, but no later than one year after the expiration of the missed deadline.
