Maximum Protection Duration and Renewal Options
A registered design in Croatia is initially protected for 5 years. This protection period can be renewed up to four times for an additional 5 years each, bringing the total protection duration to a maximum of 25 years.
Renewal Process
Renewal is carried out by submitting a formal application to the Croatian Patent Office and paying the renewal fees on time. The application can be submitted no earlier than 6 months before the current protection period expires. Renewal after the expiration date is possible within 6 months, but only with the payment of an additional fee.
